Murcia

Murcia has an enviable climate - over 300 days of sunshine a year, with an average temperature of 21 degrees, ranging from 12 degrees in the winter to 25 degrees in the summer and minimal rain. Ideal for golf throughout the year! The World Healths Organisation (WHO) recently declared the province of Murcia as having the cleanest air in Europe.

Airports
Murcia is the closest airport, only 15 minutes drive away. We can arrange for you to be picked up at the airport at the reasonable rate of €30. Alicante is approximately 60 minutes drive away. We give full directions to La Torre Resort from the airports and our agents will meet you at the resort. There are a number of low budget airlines flying from all major airports to Murcia and Alicante including: Bmi baby, Easyjet, Flybe, Monarch, Ryanair, Avro, Jet2 and Thompsonfly. Beaches
La Torre Golf Resort is situated 20 minutes drive away from the coast and the remarkable Mar Menor or the 'little sea', being the largest natural saltwater lagoon in Europe, with its natural breakwater, known as The Manga Strip. Its safe warm (up to 30 degrees centrigrate in the summer!) and shallow waters, with miles of gorgeous beaches, makes it the perfect place to swim or enjoy water sports. Its bounded by long promenades with palm trees, marinas and plenty of bars and restaurants to relax. The mud of the Mar Menor is reputedly known for its richness in minerals and has health giving properties, particularly to relieve rheumatic arthritis and skin conditions. Along the Southern Coast are more beaches to enjoy and coves for you to explore. Many of the beaches have gained the 'blue flag' and are very safe for families. The clear, clean water and rocky alcoves also attracts sports enthusiasts and divers to the area.

Watersports
Murcia offers a wide choice of watersports activities to suit everyone. The shallow waters of the Mar Menor is ideal for beginners and the Med itself is beckoning for the more experienced sailor. Windsurfers will love La Mota beach, a completely natural course for speed, taking advantage of the wind without taking any risks of the sea.. Along the coast there are extensive beaches used for diving - all situated in the Salinas Regional Park.

Places of Interest
We have listed just a few of the many places to visit whilst staying at La Torre Golf Resort.

Los Alcazares (15 mins away)
A typical Spanish seaside town, is situated along the Mar Menor and boasts miles of sandy beaches. Playa Manzanares and Playa De Los Narejos hold the 'Blue Flag' title. Take a wander or bike ride along the 2 mile promenade and stop and relax at one of the many bars and restaurants overlooking the sea. The town has all the necessary amenities you require and new restaurants and bars are continually opening.

Cartagena
A historic Roman town and natural port is full of stunning architecture, with many old buildings, galleries and museums to explore. Take a guided tour on a bus around Cartagena's historic sites, including a stop at the Concepcion Castle and enjoy the views at the top of the panoramic lift. The wide promenade at the port is lined with bars and restaurants for you to relax in, or take a boat trip and sail though the city port to view the lighthouses of Navidad and Curra and the Isle of Escombreras.

San Pedro del Pinatar
A quiet tranquil village and has a beauitful long beach. Salinas y Arenales is an important wetland area, famous for its bird wildlife and in particular flamingos that gather before migrating to warmer climates. Wander along the walkways around the salt lakes which lead to beautiful dunes and sandy beaches with crystal clear waters. Adjoining San Pedro, is Lo Pagan with its therapeutic mud baths, known for its minerals known to be effective against arthritis and rheumatism.

Puerto de Mazzaron
A small fishing port with plenty of unspoilt beaches and coves nearby. It has a small marina with many seafood restaurants and bars to choose from. The Sunday Market is a popular tourist attraction. This coastline is popular for sailing and diving.

Shopping

Dos Mares Shopping Centre ~ situated approx 20 minutes away and has a wide selection of shops and food court. It also has the Eroski supermarket, cinema, amusements and bowling alley. The complex is situated on exit 777 on the main AP7 dual carriage way.

Cartagena ~ situated approx 30 minutes away, has a large Carrefour supermarket, high street brand shops and an El Corte Ingles department store.

Murcia City ~ situated approx 30 minutes away, also has a large El Corte Ingles department store plus numerous boutiques and exclusive shops.

Murcia ~ Nueva Condiminium Shopping Centre is a new indoor shopping mall located over two floors with a wide range of high street brands including Zara, Mango, H & M plus has a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars.

Murcia ~Thader Shopping Centre - again an excellent shopping centre with numerous individual shops, restaurants, supermarket and opposite a very large Ikea Store.
